THE PROJECT IN DETAIL:
The original construction at Gisburn had 3 storeys and a mansard roof, the existing roof was removed to allow for one new storey (comprising of 6 flats) to be installed with a new mansard roof (also comprising of 6 flats) to be constructed on top.
The build was formed by a steel frame and in-filled with factory insulated timber frame panels. We installed a new floor construction above the existing 2nd floor which was weathered to prevent the ingress of surface water into the flats. Metal web joists were installed to form the floors, this was topped with OSB to allow an under floor heating system to be installed before our acoustic flooring system was laid on top.
The complete new structure was overboard with an extra 100mm of site installed poly-urethane insulation to get the u-value down to 0.10 w/m2k. This was then sprayed with our Passive-Purple liquid membrane to ensure a brilliant air tightness score.
