White Haus builds West Midlands Safari Park holiday lodges

It’s certainly not every day that you get to work at a safari park to build lodges designed to allow animals and guests to interact. But, when you work in an innovative eco-space, the future is really always full of surprises.

In 2020 we were absolutely thrilled to be contracted to build the elephant lodges for West Midland Safari Park, so when they reached out once more about a project for the giraffes, it’s an understatement to say that we were excited.

Sustainable lodges - the Elephant Lodges

West Midland Safari Park is run by wildlife conservationists that know all too well the importance of sustainability and its role in keeping the planet hospitable. Committed to a number of conservation and sustainability goals, Passivhaus buildings were just another obvious step for WMSP to expand the operation while reducing its footprint.

As a specialist Passivhaus builder, White Haus is grateful to be part of such truly exciting initiatives.

Elephant lodges

The elephant lodges sleep up to 5 guests

Launched in April of 2021, the elephant lodges sleep up to five guests, feature open-plan living spaces including the lounge, dining area and kitchenette, as well as a spacious balcony where guests can sit back and watch the elephants hang out at the pool located just in front. White Haus built six of these epic two-story lodges.

Naturally, the guests don’t care who built them, but our team do take great pride in seeing the reaction to the lodges and their overwhelming popularity. Almost as soon as they opened, the elephant lodges were booked out for the entirety of 2021. They are now taking bookings for 2022.

Passivhaus giraffe lodges

Giraffe lodges

Back for another round of building in paradise, White Haus will commence the giraffe lodges in September. We have been contracted to build eight full turnkey Passivhaus lodges with triple-glazed windows that bring guests straight into the giraffe’s natural habitat.

Working with the surrounding environment, the lodges will be designed to allow guests to engage with these beautiful animals while remaining safe and oh so very comfortable.

From the team at White Haus, we would like to extend a huge thanks to West Midland Safari Park for allowing us to be part of such a fun building project and raising awareness about the ability to build beautiful lodges that are eco-friendly.
